  • Challenge

Before adopting Drivewyze by Fleetworthy, Brenny Transportation relied on PrePass for weigh station bypass. However, coverage limitations—particularly in key operational states like Wisconsin—created significant operational delays, negatively impacting driver productivity and satisfaction. Drivers frequently faced delays at the Hudson weigh station, leading to additional congestion, longer hours, and reduced home time.

Moreover, Brenny's leadership recognized the need to enhance their safety initiatives beyond traditional reactive alerts, ensuring drivers maintained exceptional safety records and high retention rates.

  • Solution

Brenny Transportation made a strategic switch to Drivewyze by Fleetworthy, motivated primarily by its superior weigh station bypass coverage compared to their previous provider. Beyond bypass services, Brenny fully integrated Drivewyze’s Safety+ proactive alerts and additional safety technologies into their fleet, creating a comprehensive safety system.

Implementation was notably smooth, described by Jeff Muzik, Brenny’s VP of Safety, as “the easiest tech transition we’ve ever made,” requiring minimal training and achieving quick acceptance from drivers.

  • Results

Significant Time Savings and Operational Efficiency

Drivewyze’s extensive bypass coverage immediately improved Brenny’s fleet efficiency. Specifically, the company now saves approximately 1.5 hours per truck per week at the previously problematic Hudson weigh station alone, significantly improving their drivers' ability to return home on schedule.

“Switching to Drivewyze was a no-brainer, especially for coverage in Wisconsin. Now, we get green lights in far more states than ever before. Drivewyze consistently improves our efficiency and driver satisfaction,” Jeff said.

    Enhanced Driver Retention and Satisfaction

Brenny Transportation maintains an impressive 85% driver retention rate, significantly above industry averages. Jeff attributes part of this success to providing drivers with efficient, reliable tools like Drivewyze that enhance their daily experience and job satisfaction.

“In a competitive driver market, if you don’t provide tools that genuinely benefit drivers, you fall behind. Drivewyze is a simple, intuitive solution that helps us keep good drivers longer,” Jeff said.

    Proactive Safety Culture

By adopting Drivewyze’s proactive Safety+ alerts, Brenny has strengthened its already robust safety culture.

“Our safety culture at Brenny emphasizes proactive coaching and support, not criticism,” Jeff said. “Tools like Safety+ from Drivewyze align perfectly with this philosophy, allowing us to stay ahead of safety issues before they become problems.”

Regular safety meetings, hands-on training sessions, and a Driver Review Board, consisting of the fleet’s top-performing drivers, have further deepened Brenny’s proactive approach.

    Services
Professional transportation services focused on dry goods and custom furniture

    Regions Traveled
    Ohio

    Vehicles
88 tractors and 200 dry van trailers

  • Challenge

Ploger Transportation, a safety- and innovation-driven fleet based in Norwalk, Ohio, began experiencing a sudden increase in out-of-service violations related to underinflated tires—particularly in Kentucky. These violations weren’t due to poor maintenance, but rather newly deployed roadside tire pressure monitoring technology. Without a weigh station bypass solution in place, drivers were frequently pulled into inspections, compounding downtime and operational costs.

  • Solution

Seeking both immediate and long-term answers, Ploger partnered with Drivewyze by Fleetworthy—introduced through their telematics partner, Gray Box—to implement the Drivewyze PreClear and Safety+ solutions across their fleet. In addition to reducing weigh station stops, Ploger used in-cab alerts to guide drivers toward fuel savings, safer routes, and better compliance. The Gray Box team ensured seamless integration into Ploger’s existing telematics stack, accelerating adoption and impact.

  • Results

Within the first year, Ploger recorded over 10,000 weigh station bypasses across 88 vehicles, saving more than $80,000 in fuel, emissions, and time. Drivers reported fewer delays and improved satisfaction, averaging 97 bypasses per vehicle each month. Custom alerts further boosted efficiency and morale—turning a compliance challenge into a driver-approved win for safety, savings, and sustainability.

“Ploger is a fleet that thinks long term. They already had a strong vision for safety and operational excellence, and Drivewyze fit naturally into that vision. At Gray Box, our role was to connect the dots—ensuring that Drivewyze integrated smoothly with their existing telematics and could be scaled quickly. Strategic alignment like this is what makes technology investments stick."

  • Challenge

TransMaquila needed to streamline its processes to cut down on violations as their fleet continued to grow.

With over 400 trucks and traveling internationally, TransMaquila was concerned about having the proper coverage and devices, which quickly became too much for their team to manage. Spending almost three hours every week just reviewing paper toll bills and speaking to each individual tolling authority to make payments and dispute violations, managing toll quickly became an administrative hassle.

They needed an all-in-one solution that would enable them to handle all tolling activities, which would consolidate devices, statements, and toll data.

  • Solution

In 2020, TransMaquila was introduced to Bestpass at a Freightwaves event. Learning about how Bestpass could help them realize time savings, cost savings, and centralized toll activity, Bestpass checked all of the pain points that TransMaquila was experiencing.

They started with the Horizon Sticker, which gave them coverage across select southern states, including Texas. As their fleet continued to grow and realizing they needed a device that was transferrable across vehicles, they upgraded their coverage and devices to the Complete Pass, offering them nationwide coverage.

  • Results

After bringing on Bestpass's Complete Pass, TransMaquila saw three major benefits: time savings, cost savings, and centralized toll activities.

The TransMaquila team received nearly 4 hours back in their day with the help of the easy-to-use Bestpass portal as well as having the added support from the Bestpass Customer Support Team.

The administrative fees accrued when paying bills through the tolling authority were adding up to more than the cost of toll. These fees are now a thing of the past since all payments are made through Bestpass, cutting down on paper bills and the resources required to manage toll.

“Bestpass delivered what was promised, a simple and superior solution to toll payment and management."

  • Challenge

With a 15-truck fleet, Deven Transport was receiving auto-replenishment fees that were adding up to more than the cost of their toll.

Each vehicle/transponder required a balance of $250 and they would often surpass that amount in toll, which means their bank account was being hit frequently with auto-replenishment fees.

They received no discounts for their vehicles and were paying close to $20,000 per month on transactions related to toll. This was not sustainable if they wanted to grow.

  • Solution

In 2018, Deven Transport was introduced to Bestpass, which gave them and all-in-one solution. Through Bestpass, they ordered E-ZPass transponders for each of their vehicles and were able to set a surety balance for their entire account, versus each vehicle individually.

This allowed their surety balance to be hit before their bank account and they could adjust it according to how much toll they projected to hit. It also spread out a larger balance over their entire fleet so that trucks that were hitting more toll than others were not getting auto-replenishment fees.

  • Results

Since 2018, Deven Transport has seen benefits from having Bestpass as their toll management provider, including cost savings and better reporting and visibility.

Deven was once spending $20,000 on toll month-over-month. However, since bringing Bestpass onboard and having one surety balance and superior discounts, Deven is now seeing $13,000 in monthly savings that enables them to make much needed improvements to their fleet.

And with better reporting, Deven can provide a more accurate picture of their toll spend and make better business decisions.

“We are always looking for ways to make improvements to our fleet and to the way we do business. Technology is constantly evolving, and we like to keep a pulse on how we can benefit from what’s available, giving us opportunities to grow and providing a better experience to our customers.”
